  • One more day...

One is a big number to count, especially if it is the number of days before a big trip!  And so it is...

Some of our bags are set to go and others are still waiting to be filled and finalized.  After and 18 hour day yesterday, my brain is ultra full and feeling like it could use a break.

We have banking, shopping, and little errands to do during the time that AC is at theatre class.  So much and nearly so little time.  Shawn still has to work tomorrow morning so we may not get away on schedule.  TBA!

Zowie, I am pumped and tired all at the same time.  I think the plane ride will be the hardest.  We're not used to sitting for four and a half hours.  Oh well...  a small price to pay.  Until next time...

  • Only 8 days to go!

We also had a passport oops yesterday.... That nearly sent me over the edge!  The boys thought I had gone mad when I was rushing around trying to figure out all of the things I needed to get for Shawn so that he could update it!  What a crazy day!  I tried for an hour to get hold of Shawn on his cell but he was not answering.  Finally, after I nearly went insane, he called and came right home.  It turns out he was heading home anyway for an early day.  He showered and changed, and then we headed to get new passport pics done.  Superstore was the destination but they were apparently too back-logged with children's Christmas pictures to fit us in.  Lazy lazies!  So, we had to back-track and go to Shoppers.  The lady there was more than willing to help us.  The pics were finished in less than 5 minutes and we were on our way to the passport offices in Surrey.  When we got there there was barely any parking and we had to hoof-it to the building.  Not knowing if we would even be processed in time for our trip, we stood in a short line-up (in the bowels of the building) that ensure Shawn's papers were in order.  Then we were told to take the number we were given and head up to the lobby again.  Ugh....  We had no idea what was waiting other than a dude keeping post and giving directions.  Maximum Security Worker punched his card into the elevator and allowed us access to the ninth floor at long last.  We then waited in a small waiting area and watched a screen that would indicate the number we were given in the basement.  Alas, we did manage to get a renewal all within 25 minutes of walking into the government building!  It was a record!  Can you say God?!!!!  It is amazing how He is so loving and kind!  We could barely stop smiling all the way home.  To top it off, we managed to beat the rush-hour traffic!  Bonus!

Next on the list is to get the boys' shots finished.  Avery is not happy about that!  Aidan doesn't really care.  Hmph.  And that's that!

Here's a high five until next time.....   '''"

To God be the glory forever and ever,

    AMEN

  • Twenty-four days... and counting.

Today, the boys started their 'advent' calendars.  They are starting as a countdown to the day we leave on our trip, not as a typical countdown to Christmas.  We have 24 days left, and so they started on 24 and are counting backwards.  Neat idea, seeings we won't be here for Christmas and the chocolate things might melt in the luggage... Well, you never know!

We are really beginning to see many pairs of socks come in for Avery's Sox Box project.  He thinks that there are over 50 pairs!  One boy, from MRBC, trick-or-treated for money for Mexico, instead of candy.  He then brought this money to the church.  It landed in our hot little paws and we counted $27.60!!!!  So, with that moola, we headed to the local Dollar Giant and bought 24 packages of socks.  Some of the packages consisted of up to three or four pairs, so we actually got more than 24 pairs!  Yeehaw!!!!  This is what it looked like after we returned home with them:

Avery also got four pairs of home-made knitted slippers as a donation from another friend...  These look sooocozy!

The fundraiser is beginning to fill up with guests requesting tickets, so it doesn't look so sparse after all!  We have a power point/slide show to prepare, and this is Aidan's expertise!  Shawn will be talking about the building project so he's got a bit of work cut out for his part of the fundraiser!  We also have many friends and Shawn's mom that will be volunteering to help prepare the food (and serve!) so we're well covered!  Praise God!

Things are coming along nicely.  We just have to stop doubting and start trusting God in everything!  We have come through the firing line of the enemy and now we are aware that God is helping us overcome the little obstacles and arrows that have been flung in our direction.  Pray for us please!

May we glorify the One who began this great work!
